无意中看到了一些finance PhD的资料，顺便google了一些资料，随手做个总结。

最先看到的是一个UC Berkeley毕业的PhD介绍他当年的同学的背景：PhD in Physics from Brown, PhD in Mathematics from Wisconsin, MS in Financial Mathematics from Chicago, MS in Operations Research from Carnegie-Mellon and at dissertation stage for a PhD at USC, MS in Economics, MBA and at dissertation stage for a PhD in Statistics from University of Paris, Graduate work in Math from Minnesota, and MBA with PhD level classes in finance and economics from Duke. 从中可以看出，同样是PhD，finance的就是不一样，导致这么多人拿完一个PHD再拿一个；另外就是UCB的finance非常非常quantitative，除了一个人只有finance/econ背景，其他人都是数学、统计、运筹这些非常矿的背景。

后来我就去几个top finance PHD program看了一下。排名通常是wharton第一，还有chicago booth, ucb haas, nyu stern都是排名靠前的finance phd program.不过我看了一下就业统计，觉得还是芝加哥比较牛。首先就是毕业生人数很多，其次就是就业档次更高，再次就是去业界的不少。

沃顿2008只有2个毕业生University of Minnesota，University of Kansas。但这就业去向我感觉只能说一般。2007年也只有2个，Uiversity of California - San Diego, Tykhe Capital. 而且看名字，这四个人全都是中国人。。。敬仰一下，也奇怪一下沃顿，毕竟一个专业排名第一的学校连续两年从finance毕业的4个人全都是中国人，还是有点另类的。

haas 2008 4人: Vanderbilt University, European Central Bank, University of Washington (Seattle), National University of Singapore, IESE Business School。2007年1个毕业生都没。

stern 2008 2人，全都去了Barclays Bank. 这个连09也贴出来了，ESSEC Paris, Penn State University, Hong Kong Univ. of Science and Technology, Korea Advanced Institute of Technology, Temple University. 07年4个UNC-Chapel Hill, London School of Economics, University of California – Irvine, Lehman Brothers

可以看到这几个牛校人少，毕业去向说实话一般，跟母校档次差了一点，去业界的也不多。

然后是芝加哥Booth了。2008年就有7个finance毕业生：Ohio State University, Barclays Global Investors, Ziff Brothers Investments, Dimensional Fund Advisors, Polytechnic Institute of New York University, UCB Haas, Wharton UPenn。2007年6个毕业生，CRA International, MIT Sloan,  Stanford GSB, Wharton UPenn, Barclays Global Investors, Purdue University. 虽然我的调查并不完全，但是已经很容易看出芝加哥的Placement的卓越性。2007-2008就为沃顿、伯克利、MIT、斯坦福、普渡这些同档次或者略低的学校输送了6个professor，占毕业生人数差不多一半。另外也能看出Barclays Global Investor非常偏爱芝加哥的同学，可能因为他们是ETF大牛，所以跟芝加哥的finance有点渊源。这个公司在旧金山，是偶dream公司之一，因为我是etf的狂热爱好者。值得一提的是，这里面也有3个音似中国人，包括去mit做教授的，我google了一下，跟我同年大学毕业的，差距很大，555。

顺便提一下Nanyang Business School, 虽然我目前还没写完论文，但是在那里读了3年，已经算是校友。。。最近跟朋友吃饭听说NBS的placement也是相当不错，最近2年毕业基本都去了澳洲、香港、新加坡当professor，还有去欧洲的。我认为可以算是亚太地区顶尖的phd program了。
